ArdorCraft

Postby MrCoder » Fri Oct 22, 2010 6:47 am

Since there has been a bit of talk about minecraft even on this forum, I decided to have a go at the basic tech myself. After a couple of days spare time work I now have an iteration 1 ready.
It is possibly buggy or slow (only tested on my two laptops). Just report to me and I'll fix things for iteration 2.

EDIT:

This is now the page to access the "game": http://ardorlabs.se/ArdorCraft

It has links to the current released version as well as the current development build where I'm testing out new features.

A lovely place for a little medieval church! Ok, my artistic skills are fairly limited... :roll:

Must say very impressive, works really well even on my low end work machine which is surprising since I didn't expect such a specific problem to be handled so well by a general purpose engine. Can't wait to try on my home PC.

P.S. If your gonna clone minecraft you missed one of its main features, ability to run in the browser :)

Thanks all! Yeah I plan to take in more coders from this community at least, if anyone is interested.

Maybe a bit early to post on reddit. I would wait until I had something jaw dropping :)

Cool, works really well here.

You should also upgrade to latest lwjgl version and appletloader as there has been some bug fixes.

Also there is a black screen when the LWJGL Display is initialised after the appletloader completes and when the LWJGL Applet starts. Easy to fix if you use
LWJGL's method
Code: Select all
Display.setInitialBackground(1f, 1f, 1f);
This will set it to Displays initial color to white so it match the AppletLoader background color for a more seamless switch.
