I think you will appreciate this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiihGgD36e0 (done in xna).
Seems we are not the only ones dreaming of voxel space exploration with ship crafting !

Re: ArdorCraft
The same developer(s?) also did this project http://www.moddb.com/games/liquid-cubed which I guess was them trying to add some more realistic water effects to MineCraft. From what I read they even discussed the possibility with Mojang but integration seemed a little difficult given the way MineCraft's engine works. Maybe they'd be interested in contributing their algorithms to ArdorCraft or MrCoder's Block World Engine/API; which by the way I'm really excited for and have been thinking about a lot lately.
MrCoder, I know you are still in the process of conceptualizing the idea, but could you maybe give us some insight or teasers on how you see it working? Are you going to build the core rendering component and have hooks to allow us to add our own features like... blocks, liquids, etc... or do you see us leveraging much lower components? I know your tech demo for ArdorCraft included the "infinite world" and is that something that will be part of engine? do you see possibly implementing both "infinite" and fixed sized worlds which will allow the developer working with the engine to decide? or will the loading and saving of the world be on us to implement? ugh... I have a ton of questions, some of which I don't even know how to ask.
Let's just say I am eagerly awaiting more news on this!

Re: ArdorCraft
I'll take it in stages, to make sure I get anything out at all
First up I'm just hack'n'slashing out some of the specifics of ArdorCraft like ui, physics etc. I'll put up a jar plus an example out very soon so that you can try. In it's first shape it will just possible to create a blockworld with your own world creation algorithm(which the engine queries as you move around), and your own lighting algorithm. or use what i have in there from before. It will still be infinite, and the blocktypes etc are pre-set. Step two would be to start making it more generic and configurable.
